In the beginning...

Ok, so this is not exactly the beginning... We are really a couple of weeks in to this adventure in Dad's brain "mass". I'll stick to calling it that for now since it really has not been described any other way to us thus far. But that's really all details. And not entirely the details that I really wanted to write about on here. Besides the medical Drama of it all, I'm especially interested in sharing the humor and eccentricity of our situation. The fact is that this mass or tumor or whatever it is has certainly made for some interesting moments, stories, and comments.

My dad has always had a subtle dry sense of humor. While not necessarily a standup comic and often described as the strong silent type (at least at first meeting), those that know Dad well know of the mischievous spirit betrayed by the sparkle in his eyes. I feel blessed that this mass pressing on the neurons of his brain, causing a collision of thoughts and memories (some from years gone by) has done nothing to damper that spirit. If anything the opposite. Amidst an emotional time we've shared many laughs as a family. True to dad's strength of character he's often been the one to poke fun at himself and accept gracefully an unacceptable circumstance.

I thought about calling this blog "Shit my dad says" but realized it was already taken by a book and tv show. But whatever the name, hopefully this blog serves as a cathartic relay of the lighter moments as we continue down this road.
